Here’s what CNBC TV’s producers were watching as the Dow Industrials fell an eighth straight day, and what’s on the radar for the next session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average The index fell for the eighth straight session on Monday. That’s the Dow’s the longest down streak since 2018. If the blue-chip falls on Tuesday, it’ll be the longest losing run since 1974. Thanks to CNBC’s Adrian van Hauwermeiren. The top song on the Billboard Hot 100 that year was “The Way We Were” by Barbra Streisand. “The Towering Inferno” with O.J. Simpson, Fred Astaire and Faye Dunaway was the top movie of the year. .DJI YTD mountain The Dow Jones Industrial Average in 2024 Homebuilder sentiment The numbers for the NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI) come out on Tuesday at 10 a.m., Eastern. CNBC TV’s Diana Olick will have them. The SPDR S & P Homebuilders ETF (XHB) is 10% from the Nov. 25 high. In the past month, all the big homebuilder stocks are down. LGI Homes is down 3.4%, and it’s 26% from the high hit nearly a year ago. Century Communities is down 4.5% in a month, 24% from the September high. Taylor Morrison is down 7.7% in a month, 14% from the November high. D.R. Horton is down 8.6% in a month, 26% from the September high. PulteGroup is down 9% in a month, 22% from the October high. KB Hom e is down 9% in a month as well, down 20.5% from the September high. Lennar is down 10% in a month, 21.6% from the September high. Hovnanian is down 12% in a month, 39% from the August high. Meta Platforms and TikTok We’ll keep following Meta Platforms closely. CNBC’s Julia Boorstin is watching for any updates on TikTok’s future in the U.S., as well as the next move for the company and the court system. Meta’s stock hit a new high last week. It is down 2.2% since then. Meta is up 8.7% so far in December and 76% in 2024. META 1M mountain Meta Platforms in the past month Holiday season freight CNBC TV’s Frank Holland will cover the sector on Tuesday. The SPDR S & P Transportation ETF (XTN) is 5.4% from the November high. It is down nearly 5% in December. Top performers over the past month include Joby , up 39%, and Alaska Ai r, up 17.5%. American Airlines is up about 15% in a month. Lyft , GXO and Uber are at the bottom of the transports pile: These names are down around 20% each over the past month. On the trucking side: Saia is up 2.7% in a month. Landstar and C.H. Robinson is also flat in the past month. As for the rails: Union Pacific is down 1% in a month, and it’s off 7.7% in three months. CSX is down 6% in a month. Nvidia The stock took a hit on Monday, falling 1.7%. Nvidia is now down about 13% from the November high, but it’s still up 166% so far this year. NVDA YTD mountain Nvidia shares in 2024 Broadcom For now, the new king of the chip stock mountain could be Broadcom . The stock popped 11% Monday, hitting a new high at $251.88 a share. Shares are up 51% in a month. It’s another great pick by Jim Cramer for the charitable trust. He last bought on Nov. 21. The stock is up 53% since then. The SMH ETF The VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) is 10.5% from the July high. It is up nearly 3% in a week and up 4.6% in December. SMH 5D mountain The VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) Bitcoin Bitcoin passed $107,000 per coin on Monday, almost hitting $108,000. The Bitcoiners Other than MicroStrategy , they were well all up on Monday. But, Cleanspark is 49% from its high. Riot Platforms is 25% from the high reached nearly a year ago. Coinbase is 10% from the Dec. 6 high. MicroStrategy is 25% from its Nov. 21 high.
