The eXp UK brand, which is now the largest operation outside of the US and Canada, was recognised at eXp’s annual awards in Miami, Florida, last week.

eXp is represented in 24 countries around the world and just announced the addition of a further three territories – Peru, Egypt and Turkey – but it is the UK that is expanding on a rather rapid scale, having surpassed the 600-agent milestone three months ago.

Of those countries outside of the North American market, eXp UK agents won two of the NASDAQ listed agent’s top awards, beating rivals from other countries, including France, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.

Mark Buchanan from Cumbria took the individual award for most properties sold at 157 units in 2023.

And Amie Brooks from Selby achieved the highest value of sales at $39 million in the same period.

Adam Day, UK and European expansion leader at eXp, commented: “The eXp UK business is the largest outside of the US and Canada despite only being 4 years old and therefore we’re getting used to big performances from our agents. However, for us to win not one but two individual agent awards for sales value and unit volume really demonstrates the size of eXp UK now, the largest of the self-employed estate agency platforms in Britain.

“But these wins for Amie and for Mark also show that backing yourself as a supported, self-employed agent really can reap dividends in financial terms. Suffice to say that Mark and Amie are flourishing and truly living life to their greatest potential.

“My sincere congratulations, gratitude and respect to both of them for flying the flag for eXp UK on the international stage.”

Brooks said: “I’m proud to have been the top selling agent in Selby for two years running having worked in the town since 2001. But to be recognised on stage as the best of 22 country markets is a real career high and something I am immensely proud of. It looks like I have a lot to live up to next year now!”

Buchanan flew his entire family to Miami for the awards and celebrated with a night at the Versace Hotel.

He added: “I grew up in a council house in Cumbria and so winning the award for number 1 international agent for units sold is a real ‘pinch me’ moment.

“When I started my business, I wanted to take back control and do things my way, to create a better life for my family and to offer a fantastic service for clients. I never dreamed of getting to a level where we’re being recognised on stage for being one of the top producing agents in the world. What makes it even more incredible is that we live in a small town in Cumbria and it proves that you don’t need to live in a city with high value homes to be successful.

“Celebrating in the Versace Mansion really was the icing on the eXp cake.”
