The British Prime Minister who is in Kyiv on Thursday has pledged to provide Kyiv with a £2.6 billion aid package to help defeat Vladimir Putin in his illegal war.
This is Sir Keir Starmer’s second visit, but his first since becoming Prime Minister and told a press conference that the military aid “will start arriving in Ukraine in a few weeks.”
Starmer revealed during the press conference that this year the UK has already provided £3 billion in aid to Ukraine and the further £2.6 billion will be funded from frozen Russian assets.
Separately the UK will send Ukraine 150 artillery barrels which has been produced by Sheffield Foregemasters.

Starmer said, “We will keep going further to train Ukrainian troops,” as “nothing is off the table.”
The Prime Minister added that the “British people believe in this cause.”
Earlier today Starmer told a press conference, “Putin’s ambition to wrench Ukraine way from its closest partners has been a monumental strategic failure. Instead, we are closer than ever, and this partnership will take that friendship to the next level.
“The power of our long-term friendships [should not be] underestimated. Supporting Ukraine to defend itself from Russia’s barbaric invasion and rebuild a prosperous, sovereign future is vital to this government’s foundation of security and our plan for change.”
Starmer also pledged that the UK will send a new mobile air defence system to Kyiv which will be “develop to meet Ukraine’s needs.”
