The Kremlin has warned the US and UK there will be an “appropriate response” if they allow the use of long-range weapons to be used deep inside Russia.

The US President Joe Biden has hinted that he might allow Ukrainian forces to use their long-range supplied weapons deep inside Russia on military targets.

The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken who has arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday has also suggested the same in an interview with Sky News.

Blinken made the suggestion after Iran has sent hundreds of ballistic missiles to Russia which has been seen as an “escalation” in the war.

The Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it looks like Washington and London have already made the decision to allow Ukrainian forces to use the long-range missiles on Russia as Biden has said he is “not ruling out” lifting the ban on such weaponry.

Peskov said that the “collective West” have made a decision adding they have made “an additional confirmation of the justification, necessity and inevitability” with Vladimir Putin’s so called “special military operation.”

In September last year the US supplied Ukraine with a small number of long-range Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) that have a range of 180 miles (289 kilometres).

The Kremlin’s spokesman dismissed the claim Iran has provided Russia with hundreds of ballistic missiles and said this is “baseless” and they will continue operating with countries aligned with their own interests.

Russian state media outlet Tass reported that Peskov told journalists, “We hear about a lot of allegations regarding some kind of supplies of some kind of weapons to Russia, but they are groundless.”

He added, “We are developing our relations with a number of countries, we are cooperating in various spheres, and we will continue this cooperation in the interests of all involved countries.”
