Ukraine has been delivered a major blow as Poland has said that they will stop providing weapons which will benefit Russia.

Poland has been one of Ukraine’s staunchest allies and due to a bitter dispute over grain and the two nations are becoming divided.

On Wednesday evening Poland’s Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki said, “We are no longer transferring weapons to Ukraine, because we are now arming Poland with more modern weapons.”

Morawiecki summoned Kyiv ambassador in the row over grain exports and he said in a televised statement to the nation, “I am warning Ukraine’s authorities.

“Because if they are to escalate the conflict like that, we will add additional products to the ban on imports into Poland.

“Ukrainian authorities do not understand the degree to which Poland’s farming industry has been destabilised. We are protecting Polish farmers.”

This news Poland will stop sending weapons to Kyiv will be most welcomed by the Kremlin and Vladimir Putin.

Ruslan Tradis, a resident fellow for security research at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab said, “The Polish government’s far-right policies benefit Russia in the long term.

“Recent unfortunate statements from Warsaw show how easily the Kremlin can gain an advantage as long as it uses fears, as happened with the Ukrainian grain topic that became a centre of local politics.”

Ukraine could also lose military support from Slovakia as the former Prime Minister Robert Fico looks set to win the elections next week.

He has vowed to stop sending weapons to Kyiv if he wins in next week’s election and told reporters, “We are a peaceful country,” adding, “We will not send a single round to Ukraine.”

The current Prime Minister has been supplying weapons to Ukraine and has provided strong political support to Kyiv and NATO.

However, Fico said, “They will have to sit down anyway and find an agreement.

“Russia will never leave Crimea, never leave the territories that it controls.”

Western diplomats have fired warning shots to Fico as Russian forces are on Slovakia’s borders.

A diplomat told Reuters, “Russian troops on your border and a fractured relationship with your allies, is that you want?

“Or does he revert to being the pragmatist he has been?”
