Ukraine has attacked and destroyed a Russian kilo-class submarine at the Novorossiysk port, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said.

The SBU said on Monday that a “Sub Sea Baby” underwater drone attacked the “Russian submarine of the class 636.3 ‘Varshavyanka’,” which “suffered critical damage and was actually put out of action.”

The SBU estimates that the kilo-class submarine can cost as much as $500 million which carries up to four Kalibr cruise missies which Russia has repeatedly use to attack Ukraine.

The SBU said in a statement, “This class of submarine is also known as the ‘Black Hole’ due to the hull’s ability to absorb sound and remain invisible to sonar.”

They added, “This was a joint operation of the 13th Main Directorate of Military Counterintelligence of the SBU and the Naval Forces of Ukraine.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s newest naval drones are taking out a Russian SUBMARINE.

The SBU wrote on Telegram, “The blown-up boat was forced to stay in the port of Novorossiysk due to successful special operations by surface naval drones.

“The cost of the submarine of the class Varshavyanka is about $400m. Given the international sanctions imposed, the construction of a similar submarine can currently cost up to $500m.”
