Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared at the Munich Security Conference that the Ukrainian army is now the strongest in Europe — and keeping it outside NATO is “just stupid.”
“The Ukrainian army is the strongest army in Europe thanks to our heroes. And it’s just stupid, I think, it’s just stupid to keep this army outside of NATO,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky revealed that partner countries are preparing aid packages set to arrive by the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
“We can now work on the largest energy package. Separately, we will work on missiles for air defense. Separately, we will work on some more things to strengthen our military — military packages,” he said.
“Now our diplomats and military advisers will work on this. We want, in 10-11 days, by the 24th, and all partners have agreed that we will make such maximum support packages for Ukraine.”
Zelensky also called for a new package of sanctions against Russia, hoping it will be introduced by the same date.
Europe may be benefiting from Ukraine’s fight — but Zelensky says it’s Ukraine that’s holding the continent’s line, and NATO must recognize the army’s strength.
