The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made it abundantly clear to the US President and Vladimir Putin that Kyiv will not cede any territory to Russia.
President Zelensky has said his “position has not changed” because all territory is in “the Constitution of Ukraine.”
President Zelensky said, “As for my position, it has not changed, because it has a foundation – the Constitution of Ukraine. Until the Constitution of the state is changed, the position of the guarantor of this Constitution cannot be changed. Today we discussed these issues [territorial], of course, these are very complex issues.
I want to emphasize right away: any issues related to the territorial validity of our state cannot be discussed without regard for our state, our people, the will of the state… and the Constitution of Ukraine.”
Earlier this week Zelensky said that Ukraine will not withdraw troops from the Donbas as this will be used by Putin for another offensive in the future, he then warned that if Kyiv does withdraw then World War Three will start.
On Friday Donald Trump will meet with Putin in Alaska and Zelensky is hoping that a ceasefire will be discussed during negotiations.
President Zelensky said, “We talked about the meeting in Alaska, we hope that the main subject at the meeting will be a ceasefire, an immediate ceasefire.
“The President of the United States of America has repeatedly spoken about this.
“He suggested to me that after the meeting in Alaska, we will have contact with him and we will discuss all the results, if there are any, and we will determine our next mutual steps.”
