Ukrainian troops have pushed backed Russian forces between three to eight kilometers from the Dnipro River’s left bank in the Kherson region.

They have established further bridgeheads in the region and now Russian forces mortars can no longer “hit the right bank.”

On Sunday, Natalia Humeniuk, spokesperson for Operational Command South, said this means Russian mortar fire is no longer a threat to the right bank settlements which is an “achievement.”

“Tentatively, the distance varies from 3 to 8 kilometers, depending on the specifics of geography and landscape across the left bank,” she said.

“Now their mortars can’t hit the right bank, so we see it as a certain achievement.”

Humeniuk added, “There’s a massive force there so we’ve plenty of work to do,” and they estimate there are still several tens of thousands of Russian forces in the area.

Over the past week there has been some of the most intense fighting seen on the ground in three areas.

Intense fighting has been witnessed in the Kupiansk axis, in Luhansk region; around Avdiivka in Donetsk region.

On the left bank of the Dnipro River Ukrainian forces have established bridgeheads and Marines have been conducting “fire strikes” and “operations to destroy” Russian troops.

Ukrainian defence forces have said that Russia has lost 3,500 troops and 1,200 were killed in fierce fighting around the river.

Ukrainian Defence Ministry said on social media, “The Defense Forces of Ukraine carried out a series of successful actions on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River in the direction of Kherson.”

The British Ministry of Defense said, citing intelligence data, “Neither side has achieved substantial progress in any of these areas.

“Russia continues to suffer particularly heavy casualties around Avdiivka.”
