Volkswagen is preparing to launch its new family of entry-level EVs, starting with the ID. Polo. With its official debut just around the corner, we are finally getting our first look at the revamped interior.

The ID.Polo “marks the beginning of a new generation of Volkswagen,” according to VW brand boss Thomas Schäfer, and that includes an all-new interior look.

It will be the first of four new entry-level EVs, starting this spring. We got a sneak peek of the interior over two years ago through the ID 2all concept, a preview of the upcoming electric Polo.

Volkswagen’s head of design, Andreas Mindt, posted a video on social media, saying that “The future of Volkswagen interiors has arrived in the ID 2all concept car.”

The entry-level EV is about the same size as the gas-powered Polo (4,053 mm in length, 1,816 mm in width, and 1,530 mm in height), but thanks to compact drive modules and a flat battery pack design, the ID. Polo offers more interior space.

Volkswagen said the extra space is “particularly noticeable in the rear,” with an additional 19 mm added to the interior.

The luggage compartment also offers 24% more storage space than the classic Polo, with 435 L, up from 351 L. Folding the rear seats opens up 1,243 L of load volume, up from the 1,125 L offered in the gas model.

Outside of the ID 2all concept, Volkswagen has, for the most part, kept the interior under wraps. It won’t be for much longer.

Volkswagen shared a video of ID. Polo interior on Friday, offering a first look at the new design language. Although it’s just a preview with most of the infotainment system, steering wheel, and front dash still covered, the caption reads “A first look inside. Clear lines. More space to breathe. A cockpit designed around you. Loaded with a little extra.”

At least from what’s shown, the interior appears to remain very close to the ID 2all concept. The concept featured an updated infotainment system with a 12″ central touchscreen and 11″ driver display screens. One of the coolest new features was the new drive modes.

By turning the new rotary knob, you can switch from Classic and Vintage modes, which transform the driver display into different eras, such as the Beetle and Golf.

The electric Polo is “more versatile than any of its predecessors,” the company claims. It will launch this spring with three power outputs: 85 kW (114 hp), 99 kW (133 hp), and 155 kW (208 hp). A high-performance GTI version will follow later in 2026, delivering 166 kW (223 hp).

The 85 kW and 99 kW variants will use a 37 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. Meanwhile, the 155 kW and 166 kW models will be equipped with a 52 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery, delivering up to 450 km (280 miles) of WLTP driving range.

Although the ID. Polo will start at 25,000 euros ($29,500), according to the German newspaper Handelsblatt, which reported that the cheapest ID. Polo model likely won’t be available when it launches this spring.

Volkswagen will unveil the ID. Polo interior in full tomorrow, January 3, 2026, at 12:00 CET. Check back for photos and more.
