We are selling 150 shares of Nextracker at roughly $41.65. Following the trade, Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust will own 1,000 shares of NXT, decreasing its weighting to roughly 1.15% from about 1.35%. After a disappointing second half of 2024, shares of the solar technology provider have come storming back over the past few days, including a nearly 5% gain Monday. While the year is young, Nextracker has been the best-performing stock in the portfolio since the start of 2025, with an advance of roughly 14%. On Thursday, we speculated that some of the move may be related to investors repurchasing Nextracker shares after selling some for tax-loss harvesting purposes in December. With the rally continuing despite interest rates on the rise and lingering uncertainty about the Inflation Reduction Act, which contains benefits for solar, we decided the time is right to lighten up on this small position. We’ll realize a loss of about 15% on stock purchased in June 2024. Nextracker is poised to close above $40 a share for the first time since Nov. 25. If the stock were to fall back to the mid-$30s, which is where it traded no less than 10 days ago, we would regret not taking action at Monday’s levels. But if the stock continues to rally because it is the best-operated solar company and the country needs to invest more in solar to support its growing electricity needs, which was our original investment thesis, then we’ll still have some exposure to capture that upside. (Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust is long NXT . See here for a full list of the stocks.)
