According to Dee Corsi, chief executive of the New West End Company (NWEC), a business group representing traders in and around Oxford Street, Regent Street, Bond Street and Mayfair, shoppers have grown more canny every year, leaving it later and later to buy. She said: “People are savvy, they know the Black Friday deals are coming and they hold off spending through October — they’re just waiting for Black Friday.”
