Deputy Foreign Minister Mariana Betsa said that the Russians cannot be trusted and they must be held accountable for their war crimes and the daily “genocide” that is being committed in Ukraine.

Betsa said in an interview with The Sun that Russia is committing “genocide on an industrial scale.”

She told The Sun, “Aggressor(s) should not be appeased, aggression should not be rewarded… we cannot live in a world where impunity prevails over the rule of law.

“Russia has committed genocide, and Russia continues to commit genocide on an industrial scale, every day, every single minute.”

Speaking of the ceasefire in the wide-ranging interview said bringing back the kidnapped children who have been deported to Russia on mass is part of that agreement.

Dr. Ian Garner, assistant professor in totalitarian studies at Poland’s Pilecki Institute, told the Kyiv Independent, “You cannot trust the Russians any further than you can throw them today, and that really is going to be the blockage in the negotiation process for all parties.”

“The problem… is on the Russian side. I don’t see much enthusiasm coming from the Kremlin for signing anything more than a paper thin ceasefire that either would or could lead back to war or an attempt to exert control over Ukraine through non-military means,” he added.

Betsa said, “Now with the full-scale invasion, Russia deports Ukrainian children, it abducts Ukrainian children… it erases their identity.”

Betsa said the children are being provided with Russian passports, their names are changed and the Russian authorities are actively wanting to Russify the children.

She added, “There should be a robust response by the international community,” because the Russians are still taking children to Russia.

Around 20,000 Ukrainian children have been kidnapped from the Russian occupied regions, they are known as the “Children of War.”

“We have so many children to whom Russia also uses sexual violence, and there are cases which are registered like that,” Betsa said.

“We cannot trust Russia, Russia lies and they know how to lie, so no one should be fooled by Russia.”

“No one should believe Russia’s words, Russia’s statements to the media,” the Deputy Foreign Minister added.

Mykola Kuleba, who is the CEO and co-founder of the charity Save Ukraine and are based in Kyiv previously stated, “Russia is stealing our future.”

Save Ukraine is a leading organisation who are dedicated to rescue abducted Ukrainian children from Russia.

Mr Kuleba’s expert team have already successfully brought 605 children home, to Ukraine, making a profound impact on one of the most pressing humanitarian crises caused by Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The much respected organisation “Save Ukraine” is the largest and leading organisation in this field, working alongside international and local partners to rescue abducted children and provide them with critical post-rescue rehabilitation and reintegration support.

Beyond rescue missions, the organisation is building a comprehensive social services system to address the deep trauma, systematic indoctrination, and militarisation these children have endured. In addition, “Save Ukraine” provides broader assistance to other vulnerable children and families in Ukrainian communities.

Mr Kuleba brings extensive expertise in child protection and advocacy, having served as Ukraine’s Ombudsman for Children’s Rights from 2014 to 2021, where he led key reforms in deinstitutionalisation and child protection.
