Furious Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has blasted Vladimir Putin after peace talks in Geneva collapsed in under two hours.
In an explosive post on X and an interview with Piers Morgan, Zelensky tore into Moscow for wasting time on long-winded historical lectures instead of ending the war.
“I don’t need historical sh*t to end this war and move to diplomacy. Because it’s just a delay tactic,” Zelensky fumed.
The talks, involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States, broke off with no breakthrough on sensitive territorial disputes. Zelensky warned the conflict cannot be solved by debates over history, including references to Peter the First and other centuries-old events.
“It’s not even interesting for me why he began this war. I don’t need to waste time on historic issues,” he said.
Zelensky also claimed he knows Russia better than Putin knows Ukraine, having visited cities across the country and met ordinary people – unlike the Russian president, who has rarely visited beyond major urban centres.
“I know their mentality. He has never been to Ukraine this many times. I went to small cities, from the north to the south,” he said.
Despite his fury, Zelensky stressed the only path forward is direct diplomacy at the leader level, saying:
“Only at the level of leaders can we try to end this war… to solve territorial issues, which are very sensitive and painful.”
The Ukrainian president’s remarks come as hopes for a swift peace deal fade, leaving Europe watching nervously as tensions remain at boiling point.
