Former Ukrainian Defence Minister has warned against negotiating with Vladimir Putin as all this will do is “buy some time” for Moscow to “regroup” and attack Ukraine again.
Oleksii Reznikov said he believes the Russian leader will not stop until Russian forces have destroyed Ukraine and “assimilated” Kyiv’s citizens into the Russian Federation.
In an article for the Guardian Reznikov wrote, “Russia demands the recognition of the occupied territories of Ukraine as its territory in exchange for the end of the war.

However, this is obviously for the sake of one thing only – to buy some time, regroup and ‘finally solve the Ukrainian issue’ using new resources.
Russia does not recognise the existence of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. Its goal is the destruction of Ukrainian statehood and assimilation of Ukrainians.”
This is somewhat morale boosting for the Ukrainian forces as it is the main reason why they continue to fight which is driving them with their counteroffensive to which Washington has given much praise with its effectiveness.
However, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that the counteroffensive would happen much fast if they had more powerful weapons which was provided more quickly.
Appearing at the 18th Yalta European Strategy meeting “The Future is Decided in Ukraine,” President Zelensky warned the war in Ukraine is “slowing down.”
