It has been claimed that the mass Hamas attack in southern Israel on 7 October which killed more than 1,300 Israeli civilians was not “unprovoked.”

Arab author said that the Palestinians have been provoked for 55-years by Israel with their “horrific occupation.”

Arab author Marwan Bishara told Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips that the mass attacks by Hamas on 7 October across southern Israel were not “unprovoked.”

Bishara said that Western media and saying the attacks carried out by Hamas was “unprovoked,” argued: “So let’s just get that to bed – it was provoked.

“Provocation is not just about what you’ve done the night before. Provocation is about 55 years of horrific occupation of a people and 70 years of siege of the Gaza Strip.

“So there is provocation.”

Alia Zaki, the Head of Communications and Information Management at the Palestine Country Office for the UN’s World Food Program, warned, “The situation is catastrophic. Gaza is on the brink of running out of food, water, and electricity.”

Experts have said that Israel are committing war crimes as the Israeli airstrikes and the blockade of the Gaza Strip has led to accusations amongst international legal experts that there is a violation of international law.

A United Nations Commission of inquiry announced they have been “collecting and preserving evidence of war crimes committed by all sides,” since 7 October.

Hamas terrorists have also violated international law over their attacks on innocent Israeli civilians were brutal slaughtered in the streets and in their homes.

AP reported that David Crane, an American international law expert and the founding chief prosecutor of the United Nations’ Special Court for Sierra Leone, “Intentional targeting of civilians and civilian objects without a military necessary reason to do so is a war crime, period.

“And that’s a standard that both sides are held to under international law.”

Omar Shakir, Israel and Palestine Director of Human Rights Watch, pointed to Hamas “shooting civilians en masse, taking hostages, including women and children — undeniably grave abuses of international law, for which there’s no justification.”

Shakir added, “Collective punishment is a war crime. Israel is doing that by cutting electricity, water, food, blocking aid from enteri”ng the Gaza Strip.
