BMW iX3 orders have surged past 50,000, with deliveries now underway

The new iX3, BMW’s first Neue Klasse EV, secured over 50,000 orders in just six months. Deliveries are now underway in Europe and will begin in the US later this year.

BMW said the new iX3 was off to a strong start after announcing earlier this year plans to add a second shift at its Debrecen plant to ramp up production.

Since its debut at IAA Mobility in September 2025, the iX3 has accounted for a third of BMW’s EV orders in Europe. While some reports claimed the new model was sold out through the end of 2026, CEO Oliver Zipse confirmed during BMW’s annual conference last week that orders for the new iX3 “reach well into this year.”

According to BMWBlog, Zipse revealed during the conference that the new iX3 has secured over 50,000 orders in just six months.

BMW began deliveries in Europe earlier this month. The BMW iX3 50 xDrive starts at €73,925 ($85,200) in Europe. BMW’s website says the 2026 iX3 50 xDrive will have an MSRP starting at around $60,000 in the US.

Powered by a 108.7 kWh battery pack, the Neue Klasse iX3 has a WLTP range of up to 805 km (500 miles). In the US, it’s estimated to have a range of up to 400 miles on the EPA rating system.

Based on BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive (Gen6) 800V architecture, the Neue Klasse iX3 50 xDrive delivers up to 469 hp (345 kW) and 645 Nm of torque. It also has a peak DC charging capacity of up to 400 kW, which BMW said can gain 373 km (231 miles) of range in about 10 minutes.

The interior debuts the Neue Klasse cabin design with a 17.9″ touchscreen navigation at the center. It also features BMW’s Panoramic Vision 3D Head-Up Display, which spans the windshield.

If the 2026 BMW iX3 is priced from $60,000 in the US, it will undercut luxury rivals, including the 2026 Genesis Electrified GV70 ($64,380), the Porsche Macan Electric ($80,300), the Audi Q6 e-tron ($63,800), Rivian R1S ($76,990), and the Mercedes EQS ($89,950).

Later this year, a more affordable iX3 40 model will join the lineup, with both single- and dual-motor powertrain options.

After the iX3, BMW will launch the new 2027 i3, its second Neue Klasse EV and first electric sedan in the lineup.
