BMW accidentally listed its 2027 lineup online, confirming several new electric vehicles, including the first Neue Klasse EV, the iX3.
BMW adds i3, iX4, and iX5 EVs to 2027 US lineup
We knew BMW’s first Neue Klasse EV, the all-new iX3 SUV, would go on sale in the US later this year, followed by the i3 sedan in 2027.
The leaked lineup, first reported by Motor1, reveals a few new BMW EVs we can expect to see over the next few months. The 3 series will have two electric models, both all-wheel-drive (AWD): the i3 40 xDrive and i3 50 xDrive. A new M350 performance model will join it, replacing the M340i xDrive.
The iX3 crossover SUV, set to go on sale this summer, will be available with rear-wheel drive and AWD powertrains across three trims: 40 sDrive, 40 xDrive, and 50 xDrive trims.
BMW will introduce the new iX4, which will replace the X4 exclusively as an EV. It will be available in two AWD grades: iX4 40 xDrive and iX4 50 xDrive.
Meanwhile, the next-gen X5 SUV, set to debut over the next few months, will be offered with gas and EV powertrains. A new electric iX5 60 xDrive will join the RWD 40sDrive for the 2027 model year.
Other updates for the BMW 2027 lineup include an all-wheel-drive M2 xDrive. Up until now, the M2 has been the only BMW M vehicle without its AWD xDrive system. However, the M2 will remain exclusively available with a gas engine.
BMW has since taken the list of new models for 2027, so we’ll have to wait for more detailed info. With the 2027 models arriving in the next few months, expect to hear more soon.
BMW’s Neue Klasse EVs are a step change from its current lineup. Based on its Gen6 800V electric powertrain, BMW has said the platform offers 30% more range, 30% faster charging, and 40% less energy loss.
They will also be significantly more capable and advanced with BMW’s in-house “Heart of Joy” ECU. Powered by four “super brains,” BMW claims the new tech delivers “more than 20 times the computing power” of that in its current EVs.
The 2027 BMW iX3 is expected to offer an EPA-estimated range of up to 400 miles with a starting price of around $60,000.
In November, BMW drove the new iX3, an “unprecedented” 1,000 km (621 miles) on a single charge from its Debrecen plant in Hungary, where the electric SUV is built, to Munich, Germany.
