BYD revealed the first images of the Seal 07 EV, its new electric sedan that’s about the size of the Toyota Camry.

BYD reveals first Seal 07 EV images ahead of launch

Another day, another BYD EV is emerging. BYD released the first images of its new Seal 07 EV, a fully electric sedan with a CLTC range of 705 km (438 miles) that might just be one of its biggest hits yet.

The Seal 07 is a sister model to the Seal 07 DM-i, the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version launched last year. It shares a similar design with the PHEV variant, featuring BYD’s Ocean X front-end design with a low-slung bonnet, closed-off grille, and its sharp signature LED lights.

Like the updated PHEV (DM-i) version, the Seal 07 EV is equipped with a LiDAR sensor on the roof, indicating it will likely feature BYD’s “God’s Eye” smart-driving tech.

According to CarNewsChina, the EV version is expected to feature BYD’s upgraded God’s Eye 5.0 system, which is rumoured to launch on March 5 at its tech event.

According to MIIT regulatory filings released last month, the Seal 07 EV is 4,995 mm long, 1,910 mm wide, and 1,495 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm, or about the size of a Toyota Camry.

The electric sedan is powered by a 240 kW (322 hp) rear-mounted electric motor and a 69.07 kWh battery, providing a CLTC driving range of 705 km (438 miles). It also has an impressive energy consumption of 10.9 kWh per 100 km based on the CLTC.

Inside, the electric sedan features BYD’s “Ocean Aesthics” design with a 15.6″ floating touchscreen infotainment, a dedicated driver cluster, wireless phone chargers, a rotary knob, and a two-spoke steering wheel.

With the first images released, BYD is expected to launch the Seal 07 EV in China this month. With the new electric sedan, BYD’s lineup will expand to 36 vehicles, including PHEVs and fully electric vehicles.

We will learn prices closer to launch, but the Seal 07 DM-i starts at 149,800 yuan ($21,900) in China, so the EV variant will likely start at about the same price.
