New head of residential development sales appointed at Savills Chelmsford

Tommy Newbigging

Savills has strengthened its senior team with the appointment of Tommy Newbigging to lead its new homes department across Essex and parts of Suffolk.

Newbigging joins the Chelmsford office as an associate director having previously spent almost 10 years working for estate agents Carter Jonas.

Covering most of East Anglia but focused on South Suffolk and North Essex in particular, he specialised in selling a range of property including new build developments, listed buildings and country homes and farms.

In his new role he will work alongside the current team across Essex, Suffolk and the east London corridor – advising developers and helping clients and prospective buyers through the sales process.

Newbigging said: “Working for a smaller national firm instilled core values and skills and I’m excited to take the next step in my career.

“I love creating long term relationships with clients and I’m looking forward to partnering with developers and buyers – managing all phases of the property cycle from advising on layouts and new home specifications to marketing and selling the final product.

“Savills has an outstanding reputation and I can’t wait to get stuck in and contribute to the growth of what is already a very experienced and successful team.”

Karl Manning, head of office at Savills Chelmsford, added: “It’s great to have Tommy on board. He brings a great deal of expertise and has an excellent track record.

“The Essex property market is particularly strong at the moment – with lots of opportunity for growth – and his appointment signals our continued commitment to strengthening the team and ensuring the office can provide the very best service to our clients.”

Chris Randall

Chris Randall has left Barnard Marcus to join Hamptons as regional sales director, covering the South West and West London regions.

Randall takes over from Ross Brien, who has moved to oversee 12 branches across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.

Randall, who has 15 years experience working in the property industry, said: “I’ve long respected [Hamptons] for its reputation and commitment to its employees. Alongside a drive for success, my passion lies in fostering career progression for others and I’ve always been impressed by the longevity of employees’ and peers’ careers at Hamptons – attracting some of the best agents in the business.

“My extensive experience in South West London has enabled me to build a deep knowledge of the area and a strong network of connections, and I look forward to bringing these – and much more – to my new role at Hamptons.”

Mary Beeton, head of sales at Hamptons, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Chris to the Hamptons family. Chris’s extensive experience and vision for growth align perfectly with our ambitions for Hamptons.”

Mark Hughes

Less than 12 months after joining Barratt David Wilson Homes South West as the new head of construction and Mark Hughes has been promoted to construction director.

Hughes will be responsible for driving construction performance and achieving build and quality targets at Barratt David Wilson Homes’ sites across Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. He will also play a pivotal role in developing the company’s new house type range to include enhanced fabric, efficient services, heat recovery systems, and photovoltaics (solar panels) to comply with the new Part L Building Regulations, which set the standard for energy performance and carbon emissions in new homes.

He said: “The past few months have been incredibly rewarding. Working with such a talented and dedicated team plus our collective efforts have led to significant improvements in sustainable building practices and waste management controls. I look forward to continuing our work to deliver high-quality, energy-efficient homes across the South West and working to overcome challenges, particularly in respect of the planning system.

“Our commitment to innovation and excellence ensures we’ll continue to meet the evolving needs of our communities and create sustainable living environments for future generations.”
