Public opinion in Russia of Vladimir Putin’s war is plummeting as there is thousands of casualties weekly and in total more than 1 million have perished or been severely wounded with life changing injuries.

The vast majority of Russians want Putin to end the war in Ukraine and a poll shows that 83% of Russians are worn out from the war.

Polling shows that 56% of Russians want the war to end immediately and support for the war to continue in Ukraine has dropped to 23%.

The Kremlin is pushing out a different narrative and insists that support for Putin’s bloody war in Ukraine remains high.

Every month Russians are being hit with new taxes to help plug gaps in Moscow’s cracking budget and VAT is to be raised from 20% to 22% in 2026.

In a rare admission a former Russian commander said that the Kremlin was “unprepared” for Putin’s war in Ukraine.

The former commander of the Russian Ground Forces, Vladimir Chirkin slammed Moscow’s war saying that “once again” they were not ready.

He told Russian outlet RBC, Moreover, we had the traditional underestimation of the opponent and overestimation of our own military.”

During the interview he said that Moscow’s so-called plan to “seize Kyiv in three days” is Putin’s “Tbilisi syndrome,” making reference to the five day war in Georgia in 2008, the Kyiv Independent reported.

Chirkin added, “During the first few weeks, we were taught a serious harsh lesson, and the former defense minister tried to find a face-saving exit from the situation, calling what was happening a ‘gesture of goodwill’.”

The former commander then blamed all of the “entire Russian intelligence community” for their withdrawal of Kyiv Oblast as the leadership was provided with fake information that “70% of the Ukrainian population is with us and 30% is against us.”

Ukrainian political journalist and blogger Denys Kazansky said that such comments at a high level have never been made before, Chirkin could well disappear.

Kansky wrote on X, “Chirkin, effectively acknowledged the failure of the special military operation and stated that Putin had entered the war unprepared because he had misjudged the situation, which resulted in heavy losses.”

Ordinary Russians are being affected by soaring inflation, wages plummeting, businesses going bust and all monies is going into Putin’s war economy for what he has left of his military, they have had enough of living with constant uncertainty.

People are now revolting against the Kremlin regime and are starting to publicly voice their opinions which could land them with a jail sentence.

A pensioner told a TV reporter, “Putin is a maniac who came to power on blood.

“When he came to power the Kursk submarine was sinking. Foreigners offered to help him raise it, but he didn’t lift a finger.

“He came to power on blood. And he continues, he’s a pure maniac. He gets off on the idea of blood being spilled. He gets a kick out of it.”
