This week’s weather will be changeable, with a brief period of settled conditions before it becomes unsettled again by Easter Weekend.

There is an increasing likelihood of wet and windy weather for some areas.

Today will feature a mix of sunny spells and showers. It will feel chilly for most people, although temperatures will be slightly higher than yesterday.

Tomorrow, milder air will move in, bringing what is likely to be the warmest day of the week. Highs of 16-17°C are possible in the south, while many areas will see temperatures in the low to mid-teens. It will feel cooler in the far north, where it will also be windy.

Wednesday is expected to be mainly cloudy, with bands of rain moving over northern Scotland and progressing south and east throughout the day before easing off. Temperatures will be slightly lower than those recorded on Tuesday.

Conditions will brighten up on Thursday, although a patchy frost is possible in the north early in the morning. A band of cloud and rain, along with stronger winds, is likely to move across parts of the north and west later in the day.

As we approach the Easter Weekend, it seems conditions will become more unsettled, with low pressure likely to dominate the weather pattern.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Steven Keates, said: “As we head into Good Friday and Easter Saturday, the weather is expected to turn more unsettled, with spells of rain at times, some of which could be heavy.

“This will be followed by sunny spells and showers, with the driest conditions likely towards the southeast of the UK.

“It is also likely to become windy at times across all areas, particularly in exposed north-western locations. While there remains some uncertainty in the detail at this point in time, there is a strong signal for wet and windy conditions to continue into the Easter Weekend.”
