Scottish craft beer giant Brewdog has been put up for sale following recent financial difficulties and bar closures.
AlixPartners has been brought onboard to oversee the sales process, which could lead to the beer giant being broken up.
In a statement to the BBC, a Brewdog spokesperson said the decision to sell the business was in response to a “challenge economic climate”.
They added: “Following a year of decisive action in 2025, which saw a focus on costs and operating efficiencies, we have appointed AlixPartners to support a structured and competitive process to evaluate the next phase of investment for the business.
“This is a deliberate and disciplined step with a focus on strengthening the long-term future of the Brewdog brand and its operations.”
Last summer, the beer brand announced plans to close 10 of its bars, including its first ever bar in Aberdeen, and its first London bar in Camden.
It has also closed bars in Brighton, Dundee, Leeds North Street, Oxford, Sheffield, York and, in London, Shepherd’s Bush and Shoreditch.
In its full-year results to the end of 2024, published last September, Brewdog reported losses of £34.6m, following a £63.6m loss the year before.
