Ford fulfilled its promise and has now sent out all 140,000 complementary NACS adapters, unlocking access to Tesla Superchargers for its EV drivers. With North America’s largest integrated EV public charging network, Ford says this is only the beginning.

Ford launches new NACS adapter for EV drivers

It’s been almost a year since CEO Jim Farley announced on X with Elon Musk that Ford would become the first automaker to access the Tesla Supercharger network in the US.

Since new models with a native NACS port would not arrive for another few years, Ford offered drivers a free adapter.

After launching the program early last year, Farley wrote a personal note on every box shipped out, celebrating the milestone.

Ford EV drivers now have access to over 20,000 Superchargers, up from 15,300 since just last year. The company said a growing number of drivers are taking advantage of the network. In February, Tesla Superchargers accounted for almost 20% of all public charging stops from Ford electric vehicle owners.

With over 180,000 chargers at over 50,000 locations, Ford’s BlueOval Charge Network is North America’s largest public integrated charging network. That’s 40% more than early 2024.

The network now has over 44,000 DC fast chargers, 53% more than last year. Ford is also working to improve uptime and reliability. In February 2025, Ford had its highest first-time charge success rate.

To make it even easier, the company launched its new Ford Fast Charging Adapter. The NACS adapter was co-developed with Lectron so it could scale up production and get products into customer hands quicker. If interested, you can purchase the new Ford Fast Charging Adapter here for $200.

According to Suzanne Robinson, who helped develop the adapter, it’s built to last with “robust sealing” and durable materials, because Ford knows it will likely be dropped (at least) a few times.

Ford even ran an F-150 Lightning over it to make sure it would hold up if it were driven over. Robinson said the Fast Charger was “really put through the wringer” during testing so drivers could get back to their adventures.

The company said it remains committed to making it easier and simpler to own an EV and that this is only the beginning.

Through its “Power Promise” Ford is also giving EV buyers a Level 2 home charger (with standard installation), 24/7 live EV support, roadside assistance, and an 8-year, 100,000-battery warranty.
