Foreign workers set to face tougher visa rules with minimum salary raised to £38,700

The Home Secretary James Cleverly has announced in the House of Commons on Monday afternoon that foreign workers will face tougher visa rules.

Cleverly has announced a new five point plan which is aimed at reducing immigration that includes banning care workers from bringing over their families.

The government has been under pressure to curb immigration as it is now at its highest point ever.

Cleverly has taken a hardline approach and the new plan is “more robust” than any previous stance taken on immigration.

The new measures to tackle immigration will be on health car visas as health workers will no longer be allowed to bring their families to the UK.

Cleverly told MPs that this will end the “abuse of the health care visa” and also the way Care companies can sponsor people.

There will also be a skilled worker visa minimum salary package and the new threshold will rise to £38,700.

The government also want to “scrap cut-price shortage labour from overseas,” as the Conservatives will reform the way in which people work in the short-staffed sectors.

The government will cut the 20% discount that is applied to the minimum salary for those looking for a visa for occupations that has a shortage.

The minimum threshold for a family visa is to be raised to £38,700 from £18,600, this is aimed at ensuring people can “only dependants whom they can support financially.”

Cleverly announced that student visas will be tightened of which family members that they can bring over to the UK.

The Migration Advisory Committee will be asked to review the student route, this will be aimed “to prevent abuse and protect the integrity and quality of UK higher education.”
