Here’s what CNBC TV’s producers were watching as the major averages started May with wins, and what’s on the radar for the next session. Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting CNBC’s coverage begins Friday with Becky Quick of ” Squawk Box ” live in Omaha, Neb. So far in 2025, Berkshire Hathaway is the 39th top stock in the S & P 500 , up roughly 17% this year. Shares are near the 52-week high. CNBC’s Michael Santoli will be in Omaha with his expert analysis. It’s all coordinated by CNBC’s managing editor Lacy O’Toole. Our special coverage of the annual meeting starts bright and early at 8:30 a.m. ET on Saturday. If you’re into business, it’s the place to be. BRK.B YTD mountain Berkshire Hathaway in 2025 Apple beats Tech giant Apple reported an earnings beat this afternoon. The stock is down in extended trading, but it was up for the eighth straight day in the regular session. Shares are off 18% from the high reached Dec. 26. Forward price-earnings, a key metric for investors and traders, is at 29.15 as of Thursday night. Just for comparison, current P/E for the Invesco QQQ ETF (QQQ) , which tracks the Nasdaq 100 , is 25. The SPDR S & P 500 ETF (SPY) , which tracks the broad market index, has a current P/E of 21. Amazon beats The e-commerce juggernaut reported after the bell on Thursday. In the post-earnings conference call tariff concerns for consumers and suppliers was a key part of the presentation. The stock is down in after hours. Amazon is off 22% from the Feb. 4 high. The stock’s forward P/E is 31. AMZN YTD mountain Amazon shares in 2025 The Nasdaq Nice call by CNBC desk man Adrian van Hauwermeiren on Thursday: The Nasdaq Composite has wiped out its losses dating back to the April 2 tariff announcement from President Donald Trump. The Nasdaq is up less than 1% since April 2. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is still down 3.5% since April 2. The S & P 500 is down 1.2% since April 2. Uber Technologies CNBC “Halftime Report” trader, contributor and really good guy Josh Brown made the case for Uber Thursday in his ”Final Trade” of the hour. He said, “It looks incredibly strong.” Uber finished about flat on Thursday. The stock is up 4% in four days, and it’s up nearly 11% in a month. Year to date, Uber is up 34%. Shares are off 7% from the Oct. 11 high. UBER YTD mountain Uber Technologies in 2025 Chevron and Exxon Mobil Both big oil stocks report earnings before the bell Friday. CNBC TV’s “Squawk Box” will have the numbers and the pre-market stock reaction. Shares of Chevron are down 8.7% over the past three months. The stock is down 19% from the March 26 high. The dividend yield on this stock is 5%. Shares of Exxon Mobil are down about 1% in three months. The stock is off 16% from the Oct. 7 high. Exxon Mobil has a dividend yield of 3.74%.
