The Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev warned on Tuesday that Ukraine will pay a severe price for the assassination of General Igor Krillov.

Lieutenant Krillov was the chief of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops when Ukrainian secret service (SBU) blew him up leaving a building in Moscow with an associate on Tuesday morning.

Medvedev said, “Attempts to intimidate our nation, stop the Russian offensive or sow fear are doomed. Certain punishment awaits Banderite Nazis, including the top military and political leaders of a crumbling country.”

He added, “This terrorist attack demonstrates the agony of the Banderite regime, which is struggling to justify its shaky existence in the eyes of its Western patrons and prolong the deadly hostilities while delivering cowardly attacks on civilians in cities and towns.”

Medvedev described his colleague as a Russian patriot, “Igor [Kirillov] was a military leader known for his unwavering devotion to his duties. I knew him as a dedicated professional and a reliable, honest, and responsible person.”

Russia’s Investigative Committee said in a statement, “During the inspection of the scene, items of importance to the investigation were discovered and seized, including fragments of an explosive device.

“The necessary examinations will be assigned for them and other material evidence. Witnesses are being questioned and other investigative actions are being carried out.”

A Russian governor and a friend of Krillov said he knew there the “hunt for him had begun” before he was killed.

Sergei Sitnikov, governor of the Kostroma region, said on Telegram that Kirillov was his “comrade and friend” and that he was being targeted amid his uncovering of “secret biological laboratories” in Ukraine.

Some time ago he told me that he had already been warned that the hunt for him had begun,” said Sitnikov.

“Without a doubt, this is due to the fact that under his leadership, information about secret biological laboratories was uncovered – including on the territory of Ukraine.”
