German airport suspends all flights after an Iranian ‘threat of an attack on an aircraft’ leaving Tehran

A German airport has with immediate effect suspended all flights due to an Iranian “threat of an attack” on a passenger airliner.

An inbound flight from the Iranian capital, Tehran has been issued with a “threat of an attack on an aircraft” and as a result Hamburg Airport has suspended all flights, Germany’s DPA News Agency reports.

A source at Hamburg Airport told the news outlet, “All flights at Germany’s Hamburg Airport are suspended due to a threat of an attack on an aircraft from the Iranian capital Tehran, an airport spokeswoman tells DPA.”

Reuters has also reported that flights at Hamburg Airport are suspended amid “police measures” at the German airport.

The inbound flight from Tehran with 168 passengers landed at Hamburg Airport and the authorities are interviewing passengers.

This comes as tensions in Israel are at the worst they have been in for decades and on Saturday Hamas fighters started a fierce offensive killed hundreds and wounding more than 2,000 Israeli civilians with more than 100 hostages taken.

Iran has been instrumental in aiding Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) fighters with money, aid and weaponry.

Iran’s missione to the UN said, “We emphatically stand in unflinching support of Palestine; however, we are not involved in Palestine’s response, as it is taken solely by Palestine itself.”
