Authorities in Berlin have warned German citizens to prepare for the possibility of World War II breaking out with Russia with a nuclear strike.
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has said that Russia posses a military and a hybrid threat and Europe must ready themselves with defence.
Pistorius said Germany will not be “intimidated” by Vladimir Putin after announcing the country will be a staging ground for NATO in the event of war with Russia.
A document called “Operationsplan Deutschland” reveals that Germany will be the staging ground for hundreds of thousands of NATO troops which will be a logistical hub for the alliance.
The German military has been telling civilians and businesses on how to protect infrastructure and to be ready to defend the country if there was a sabotage attack or a strike from drones and spies.
People will be provided with responsibilities for what they will need to do in an emergency as part of the crisis plans and there will also be stockpiles of diesel.

This comes as Putin has updated and approved the use of nuclear weapons if they come “under threat” by Western long-range missiles being launched into the federation.
Dmitry Medvedev deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia warned that should Ukraine launch cruise missiles or the US supplied ATACMS then this could amount to World War Three.
He said, “It is not so important who and when made the decision to use NATO tactical ballistic and long-range cruise missiles ‘deep into the territory’ of Russia. Moreover, there have already been attempts to use them against our country.”
He added, “In this case, the right arises to launch a retaliatory strike with weapons of mass destruction against Kiev and the main NATO facilities, wherever they are. And this is already WWIII.”
On Tuesday Ukraine launched several ATACMS missiles into Russia and on Wednesday they launched several British made and supplied Storm Shadow missiles deep inside the Russian Federation.
NATO countries are advising, “The global security situation increases the risks that nuclear weapons could be used. In the event of an attack with nuclear, biological or chemical weapons, take cover in the same way as in an air attack.
“Shelter provides the best protection. After a couple of days, the radiation has decreased significantly.”
Finland, Norway and Sweden have distributed the pamphlets with information to their citizens which provides advice in the event war breaks out or any other type of emergency, the BBC reports.
The neighbouring countries all have fears war could break out since Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine as tensions are at their highest.
