An Iranian official who is in Beirut with a senior member of the Lebanese militia group Hezbollah has issued a threat to Israel that the “axis will respond.”

Iran has denied that they were involved in the Hamas attacks on 7 October but has warmly praised the groups strikes in Israel and warned the war could spread and involve other nations.

The Iranian Foreign Minister warned on Friday that if the attacks continue on the Palestinians, then Tel Aviv will be held responsible and suffer the consequences of a “response from the rest of the axis.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said whilst speaking in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, “Some Western officials have questioned if there is an intention to open a new front against the Zionist entity.

“Of course, in light of the continuation of these circumstances that are war crimes.

“The continuation of war crimes against Palestine and Gaza will receive a response from the rest of the axis.

“And naturally, the Zionist entity and its supporters will be responsible for the consequences of that.”

He added that if Israel continues to attack Gaza then the war could open up on “other fronts.”

The United Nations Palestinian refugee agency has slammed Israel’s evacuation order in Gaza as it will push people into an “abyss.”

General Philippe Lazzarini, the organisation’s commissioner, added: “This will only lead to unprecedented levels of misery and further push people in Gaza into abyss.

“The scale and speed of the unfolding humanitarian crisis is bone-chilling. Gaza is fast becoming a hellhole and is on the brink of collapse.

“There is no exception, all parties must uphold the laws of war; humanitarian assistance must be provided at all times to civilians.”
