The Israeli military has said that they will operate “everywhere in the Middle East” to protect their security.

This comes after an Israeli airstrike hit the northern Syrian airport of Aleppo and Damacus Airport for the second time in a week.

The Lebanese Iranian backed militia group Hezbollah has warned that their “finger is on the trigger to shoot” and Iran has warned Israel they will “receive a response from the rest of the axis” if they do not stop bombing Gaza.

Daniel Hagari, Israel’s army top spokesperson, says the military will operate “anywhere in the Middle East.”

Israeli media reported Hagari saying, “We are always looking around us, in the entire Middle East.

“[The army] will operate anywhere in the Middle East to fulfil Israel’s security aims. We are highly prepared in all arenas.”

The Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said that no one is able to guarantee the “non-expansion” of war when Israel starts their ground offensive in Gaza.

Amirabdollahian said during his meeting with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, “If the attacks of the Zionist regime [Israel] against the defenceless citizens and people of Gaza continue, no one can guarantee the control of the situation and the non-expansion of the conflict.”

The former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak has defended the expected ground offensive in Gaza and they will do whatever they can to protect innocent civilians.

Barak told German broadcaster Deutsche Welle, “There is no way to root out the Hamas operations from the Gaza Strip through air attacks, diplomacy, wishes from Israel on the TV station and global support.

“It has to be done by soldiers on the ground facing the risk of paying with their lives.”

Barak added that Israel would do its “utmost to follow the international law,” but warned he cannot guarantee there will be no collateral damage in Gaza.

Barak added, “We do whatever we can, and ‘whatever we can’ means to tell everyone in advance to move.

“They already had four days to leave, and I’m sure that if there will be people who are incapable of moving […], the UN and other services can take them from their home and move them beyond the Gaza River.”
