Kia revealed EV2 prices and final specs as orders are now officially open in Europe. The EV2 is cheaper than expected, with prices starting at just €26,600 ($30,500).

Kia opens EV2 orders at lower prices than expected

The EV2 is “a new entry point to electric mobility,” Kia said. Measuring just over 4,000 mm (160″) in length, the entry-level EV is even smaller than the Volkswagen ID.3 (or Chevy Bolt EV for those in the US), but Kia promises it won’t feel like it when you’re inside.

Orders are now open in Germany, starting at just €26,600 ($30,500), which is below the expected €30,000 ($35,000).

The EV2 is available in three variants: Air, Earth, and GT-Line. Buyers can choose from two battery pack options: 42.2 kWh and 61 kWh, providing “best-in-class” WLTP ranges of up to 197 miles (317 km) and 281 miles (453 km), respectively.

Like the EV3, Kia’s new entry-level EV is based on the same E-GMP platform as its other electric vehicles, but with a 400V architecture to cut costs. As such, Kia said it can recharge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.

The interior features Kia’s triple-screen ccNC infotainment system, including dual 12.3″ driver cluster and touchscreen infotainment screens, plus an additional 5.3″ climate control display.

Despite being the smallest EV in its lineup, the EV2’s 2,565 mm wheelbase and flat floor design enable a flexible, surprisingly spacious interior. With segment-leading rear passenger legroom of up to 958 mm, it offers nearly as much legroom as the Soul SUV.

The EV2 is “fully connected” with integrated EV Route Planning through Kia Charge, Plug & Charge capabilities, and over-the-air (OTA) software updates.

With bidirectional charging, including Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), the electric car can act as a mobile power source or feed energy back into the grid to save on energy costs.

The EV2 is the second electric vehicle built at Kia’s Žilina plant in Slovakia, following the EV4. Kia began production of the standard-range model last month, with the long-range and GT-Line variants joining it starting in June 2026.

Positioned below the EV3, which has quickly become a top-seller in Europe, the EV2 will compete with low-cost Chinese brands like BYD and upcoming entry-level electric cars like the Volkswagen ID. Polo.

For those in the US, the EV2 is (sadly) another electric car we will never get to see. Kia has already delayed several EVs indefinitely due to the Trump Administration’s policy changes. The EV2 is designed for European buyers.
