The owners of one of Martin & Co’s flagship West Yorkshire branches have completed their first independent agency acquisition.

Father and son duo Jaspal and Monay Bhachu of Martin & Co Wakefield have acquired Rutley Clark’s lettings portfolio, expanding their reach into the nearby market town of Ossett.

Launched as a cold start business in 2008, Martin & Co Wakefield has grown steadily over 15 years and now manages hundreds of properties in Wakefield and the surrounding area.

Jaspal Bhachu said: “A broker contacted Martin & Co’s managing director Ellie Hall and she brought it to our attention – it was a great fit for us, so we’re delighted to add Rutley Clark’s landlords to our growing portfolio.

“We’d actually been looking for the right opportunity for a number of years, but it’s important to us that everything is right with an acquisition and that was certainly the case with this portfolio.”

Hall added: “Monay and Jaspal have achieved excellent organic growth over the past 15 years and this acquisition has come at a great time for them, with incredibly high demand from landlords in Wakefield and in West Yorkshire as a whole.

“They’re well known in the area for their excellent customer service and hands-on approach, as well as the technological excellence and strength that comes with being part of a larger network of franchised offices.

“I’m excited to see what comes next for them.”
