A

man has been charged after a 24-year-old woman was injured in a shooting in Tottenham.

Romario Melhado, 26, of Doe Royd Crescent, Sheffield, was charged on Friday with two counts of possession of ammunition, two counts of possession of an offensive weapon and one count of taking a vehicle without consent.

He was also charged with one count each of handling stolen goods, going equipped to steal, driving without insurance, and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence.

Police launched an investigation after being called shortly before 6.30am on December 27 last year by paramedics to reports a person had been shot at the junction of West Green Road and Grove Park Road.

Initially police did not find anyone with injuries. After checking nearby hospitals, they found that the 24-year-old woman had taken herself to hospital without assistance from the emergency services.

Melhado appeared in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, where he was remanded to appear at Harrow Crown Court on Friday, February 17.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on December 28 2022 on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
