The new season of Moscow Fashion Week, which has found its place on the global fashion calendar, starts on 28 August. European experts and companies are taking a growing interest in the event, with Moscow increasingly making its mark as a new fashion capital for emerging countries. Each year, Russia’s leading fashion week expands its reach far beyond the traditional fashion capitals of London, New York, Milan, and Paris.
Moscow Fashion Week will present new collections of designers from Russia, Brazil, South Africa, Nicaragua, Armenia, Turkey, and other countries with rich cultural traditions and striking innovative possibilities. Chinese and Indian fashion houses are regular participants at the event. This season, Russia will welcome one of China’s leading contemporary designers, Ma Guai, and her label Subai, as well as Indian couturiers Nikhil Mehra and Shantanu Mehra with their brand Shantnu & Nikhil. In addition, representatives from Europe and the United States will also take part – a true example of creative diplomacy.
“The Moscow Fashion Week is an opportunity to explore diversified international markets, reduce dependence on traditional ones, and provide new export directions for the fashion industries of both countries,” notes Ma Guai.
“Making our debut in Russia at such a major event as Moscow Fashion Week, where key industry players gather, is crucial for us. This opportunity will not only allow us to present our new collection, but also lay the foundation for a long-term presence in the region,” say Nikhil Mehra and Shantanu Mehra.
In fact, the key issue is not about cultural expansion or creative exchange. Many participants are drawn by the strong potential of the Russian market for designer fashion.
“I see the Russian market as a dynamic and promising space for both my brand and the Turkish fashion industry. There is a growing appreciation in Russia for high-quality craftsmanship, strong storytelling, and designs that combine tradition with modernity,” — comments Emre Erdemoğlu, a Turkish designer who will also take part in the event.
Russians love beautiful clothing and are increasingly paying attention to local brands. According to a study by the consulting firm NEO, over 76% of Russians trust domestic fashion labels. Moscow Fashion Week is known for revealing and promoting emerging talent each season, particularly among Russian designers — and there is no exception this season.
F.T.R. brand explores beauty and form of the body by means of material, texture, silhouette, and rich detailing that reinforce and complete each image. The Ianis Chamalidy label will present its collection Verum Invenire (‘To Find the Truth’) a synthesis of luxurious fabric, layered meaning, and diverse silhouette. Simplicity is pitted against complexity, structure is mixed with fluidity, and vulnerability is shielded by symbolic armor.
The main business event of Moscow Fashion Week is the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, which will bring together delegations from over 60 countries, including European nations such as Italy, Serbia, Greece, Spain, and others. The Summit will focus on collaborative approaches to advancing the fashion industry across both established and emerging markets.
