The New Abarth 600e, the most powerful Abarth ever, tested on the racetrack and ready for daily driving fun

When it first debuted earlier this year, the 240 hp 600e was the most powerful production Abarth model in the brand’s history. Now, it’s got 40 more horsepower from its front-mounted electric motor and a whole lot more track-focused attitude.

The latest Abarth 600e Scorpionissima‘s power boost comes courtesy of an exclusive, 280 hp electric motor it says was developed using the Formula E test bench. That motor sends power through a JTEKT Torsen mechanical limited-slip differential on its way to a set of sticky, track ready Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires that offer enough traction to launch the tiny Italian hatchback from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in under 5.85 seconds.

Hauling the car back down from its electronically limited 200 km/h (approx. 125 mph) top speed are a set of performance-focused 380 mm (15″) disc brakes developed by Alcon featuring large, “monobloc” four-piston calipers for a larger swept surface area, improved fade resistance, and superior heat dissipation.

Abarth engineers also upgraded the Fiat-derived chassis under the 600e Scorpionissima with a new rear anti-roll bar that improves on the 600e Touring’s balance at the limit by enhancing the EV’s rear stiffness, while a new, high-capacity coolant pump works to reduce battery derating, which could limit the vehicle’s performance as the laps pile on.

Inside, Sabelt sport seats emphasize lateral support and give the limited-edition Abarth a more sporty, track-focused feel than its Touring-focused sibling. Both the new 280 hp Scorpionissima and Touring model of the new 600e are built on an updated version of the same Stellantis CMP modular platform first seen underpinning the Jeep Avenger compact electric crossover.

Production of the Abarth 600e Scorpionissima will be limited to just 1,949 units, and will be available in two colors (both shown here). A Level 2 “Assisted Driving” package and full range of ADAS features are also included.
