A Tory MP has warned that if his “family were threatened” and the police “failed to take action” then he will “take action” in his own hands.

This comes as some MPs are being targeted by individuals and protest groups at their own home and the Home Secretary has been forced to step in after the highly respected Tory MP Tobias Ellwood had a major pro-Palestinian protest at his home.

Ellwood who is a former officer in the British Army and the MP for Bournemouth had around 100 pro-Palestine supporters at his home whilst his children were in the house.

Shockingly the police stood idly footage shows and they had deemed the protest to peaceful.

Questions are now being asked about the safety of MPs and one Tory MP has made a shocking statement saying he has “bulletproof clingfilm” on the windows of his home.

James Cleverly has stepped in and in the strongest terms has condemned the “wrong and undemocratic” intimidation of MPs and questions are being raised over the security of MPs.

The House of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle will keep working with Parliamentary security and the police in keeping “measures for MPs under constant review,” Cleverly said.

He added, “MPs shouldn’t have to choose between their family’s safety and representing their community.”

Conservative MP Jonathan Gullis has revealed he has installed panic alarmed in his bedroom, and also has “bulletproof clingfilm” on the windows of his home.

Gullis warned in a statement on GB News, that he will “take action into my own hands” if he believes that his family are being threatened, if the police failed to act.

He said, “I’m not having my three-year-old daughter, my two-year-old son and my fiancée put in danger because a bunch of thugs want to turn up outside my house and intimidate.

“My children and my fiancée should not fall victim to the fact that I happen to be the MP and that I have a certain view, which by the way, may not be shared in my own household.”

Alicia Kearns MP told the Express on Tuesday evening, “It is wholly unacceptable for a public servant’s private home to be targeted.

“This has a chilling effect on political discourse, and serves only to push politicians to the point where they question whether it is all worth it, especially for their families. We treasure in our country that our MPs live in our communities with such a close relationship with those we represent.

“This sort of siege tactic, and the divisiveness of discourse around every aspect of politics at the moment, rewards only those who feed on hatred and will have but one result – the driving out of those who refuse to race to the gutter.”
