NATO countries are issuing their citizens with pamphlets should war start with Russia amid the “worsening security situation.”

Finland, Norway and Sweden have distributed the pamphlets with information to their citizens which provides advice in the event war breaks out or any other type of emergency, the BBC reports.

The neighbouring countries all have fears war could break out since Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine as tensions are at their highest.

On Monday citizens in Sweden have been receiving the pamphlets which is providing information over the “worsening security situation” as there is no let up with Putin’s continued strikes on Ukraine and flying ballistic missiles over EU countries such as Moldova.

Finland and Norway have been providing such leaflets to their citizens the past few months and Helsinki has also issued a virtual pamphlet.

Oslo has sent out 2.2 million leaflets “one for each household in Norway,” according to the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection, the BBC reports.

The updated pamphlets issues citizens with basic survival instructions on cooking and first aid including medications and it insists that Nordic states are prepared for “self-defence” should there be a war or even a nuclear threat.

The advice from Stockholm says, “If Sweden is attacked by another country, we will never give up. All information to the effect that resistance is to cease is false.”

In February this year Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova issued a threat to Finland for joining NATO and in December 2023 Putin warned Finland is “now going to have problems” for joining the alliance.
