Ofwat tells water firms to deliver more reservoirs – London Business News | London Wallet

Regulator Ofwat has told water firms they need to build more reservoirs, with other major projects more quickly.

Ofwat wrote to water companies and told them they have to find different ways to “deliver (projects) more efficiently, effectively and achieve earlier completion.”

Ofwat chief executive David Black said, “We are asking you to consider your major projects or programs of projects and assess how you can accelerate work and/or gain benefits from optimising, development and construction.”

“We expect construction of a significant number of these major water sector projects to commence within the next five years, an unprecedented ambition for the sector,” Black added.
