The pair discussed the situation on the battlefield and the most urgent needs that Ukrainian forces urgently need, primarily in terms of strengthening air defense, long-range weapons, and increasing Ukraine’s naval capabilities.

Macron and Zelensky exchanged views on the functioning of the “grain corridor” and ways to enhance its protection through the Black Sea.

Zelensky also held talks with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres over humanitarian aid to Ukraine and the operation of the Black Sea grain corridor.

The official website of the President of Ukraine on Thursday evening said, “President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

“The Head of State thanked for the efforts of the team of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Ukraine, which prepared, inter alia, the Response Plan for the autumn-winter period for $435 million.”

President Zelensky said, “We held a successful meeting of advisors in Jeddah. It is very important that the next event is no less successful and yields concrete results.

“For this, we need to maintain the support of the countries of the Global South. We are counting on you in this regard.”
