Police renew witness appeal after fatal stabbing of boy, 15, and man, 23, in Archway

Officers earlier named the 15-year-old victim of the double stabbing in Elthorne Road on Thursday night as Leonardo Reid, from Islington. The 23-year-old victim has not been named.

Post-mortem examinations for both victims have given a provisional cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.

Met Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood said: “We’re three days into our investigation, and whilst enquiries are ongoing, I still need to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Elthorne Road on Thursday night.

“Two people have lost their lives through an act of violence and it is vital that we get the answers their families so desperately need.

“I know that there are people who are yet to come forward. I would ask that you consider the feelings of those whose lives have been impacted upon by these senseless murders and make contact with us.”

Leonardo died at the scene of the stabbing which occurred around 11.30pm, while the 23-year-old stabbing victim was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A third man, aged 28, was found at a nearby address with a stab injury which was not life threatening.

A 46-year-old man who had been arrested on Saturday afternoon on suspicion of murder and attempted murder was released “with no further action”, said police.

Speaking to the Standard at the scene on Friday, a witness described the 15-year-old victim as “a lovely boy from a lovely family.”

She said: “He is the second youngest of four kids. The mother is an amazing person, she works at a school. I don’t know what to think right now, such a nice boy.”

Another said: “There was filming and then all hell let loose. There were a lot of kids, some very young, hanging around. It’s a tragedy we are all shaken.”
