Premier League tickets are notoriously difficult to secure, therefore resale tickets may be the best option for securing tickets to games. However, these can often come at a hefty price for fans.
But, do some teams have a higher resale ticket value than others? Keen to find out, the ticket experts at SeatPick analysed ticket prices for the 23/24 season, and compared these with internal data on the average resale ticket price. Thus, ultimately identifying the Premier League teams with the highest resale ticket value increase.
SeatPick can reveal that Liverpool F.C. has the highest resale ticket value increase against the cheapest seats available. Liverpool lead the way by offering the most economical match day ticket at just £9, however, resale tickets can set fans back an average of £194 per match — an increase of 2,060% (£185).
In comparison, Merseyside rivals Everton resale tickets average at £78, which is just a 43% increase to the cheapest standard ticket price (£55).
A.F.C. Bournemouth ranks second with a staggering 1,103% increase in the cost of resale tickets compared to the cheapest standard ticket price. The cheapest ticket at the Vitality Stadium costs £28, a 13% decrease from the 2022/23 season (£32), with the most expensive option now costing 4% less (down from £55 to £53). However, average resale tickets cost £337 on average – £309 more than the cheapest standard ticket price.
In comparison, rivals Brighton have an average resale price of £100 per ticket, which is a 213% increase, when compared to the cheapest standard ticket price (£32).
In third place is newly promoted Luton Town F.C., with a typical increase in resale ticket price of 930%. With the cheapest standard ticket price for the club standing at £33, fans can enjoy watching Luton play in the Premier League for a relatively reasonable price.
However, as demand is high for a seat at Kenilworth Road, average resale prices can go up a whopping £340 — £307 more expensive than a standard ticket. When compared to fellow newly promoted Sheffield United, fans of the Blades can expect a resale ticket price increase of 378% with a standard ticket costing £32 compared to £154 in resale value.
Arsenal places fourth with an average increase in resale ticket price of 652%. Standard tickets are as low as £29, but resell for an average of £214 (+£186). North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur place 16th, with an average increase in resale ticket price of 123% (+£45).
Manchester City have the lowest increase in resale ticket prices
Premier League and Treble winners Manchester City have the smallest increase in resale ticket prices, at just 39% in comparison to the cheapest standard ticket available. Standard ticket prices start at £58 for the cheapest seat available, with resale value going up to £81, a difference of just £23.
