A senior Ukrainian official has warned that Vladimir Putin may well launch a tactical nuclear weapon in Ukraine if he thinks he is going to lose the war.

Oleksandr Lytvynenko, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, suggested that Putin could end up using a tactical nuclear weapon, most likely on Kyiv.

During an interview with The Times Lytvynenko believes that the Russian despot would use such a weapon as “Russia is on the verge of a catastrophic defeat.”

He was asked in what circumstances does he believe Putin would use a nuclear weapon, he gave a grim warning saying, “We cannot rule out anything if Russia is on the verge of catastrophic defeat.”

A non-strategic nuclear weapon, otherwise known as a tactical nuclear weapon, can be used on the battlefield or to take out a city.

Lytvynenko warned that Putin would use such tactics if there were to be a strategic defeat that may well spark the Russian fronts to fall which could lead to protests in Moscow.

The Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council said that Putin “wants to live” so he may not use these weapons, but Kyiv “cannot rule anything out.”

NATO chief warned on Monday the world is growing more and more dangerous and placed nuclear weapons on standby as the West could soon be facing two “nuclear powered” adversaries.

Tensions between Russia and China are at their highest than ever before and the NATO chief has issued a warning that the West could soon be faced with “something that it has never faced before.”

NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told The Daily Telegraph that consultations have started over the need to place nuclear weapons on alert.

NATO’s chief warned “NATO may face something that it has never faced before, and that is two nuclear-powered potential adversaries – China and Russia.

“Of course, this has consequences.”
