Ukrainians woke up on Christmas Day to explosions as Vladimir Putin “deliberately chose Christmas for an attack.”
Russian forces launched more than 70 missiles and more than 50 were shot down, but President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on Wednesday “there were hits.”
There was more than 70 ballistic missiles with more than a hundred attack drones which were intended to destroy “energy infrastructure.”
President Zelensky said on Christmas Day, “Today, Putin deliberately chose Christmas for an attack. What could be more inhumane? Over 70 missiles, including ballistic ones, and more than a hundred attack drones.

“The targets are our energy infrastructure. They continue to fight for a blackout in Ukraine.”
He added, “As of now, there are power outages in several regions. Power engineers are working to restore power supply as soon as possible.”
He then thanked everyone for their hard work over the festive period and to all those who are on combat duty.
He added, “We will restore the maximum. Russian evil will not break Ukraine and will not spoil Christmas.”
The Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine shot down 113 missiles, and attack drones out of 184 overnight.
The Air Force Telegram channel reported, “According to preliminary data, as of 12:00, it has been confirmed that 113 air targets have been shot down: 55 X-101, X-55, Kalibr cruise missiles; 4 X-59/X-69 guided air missiles; 54 Shahed attack UAVs/imitator drones of various types, and another 52 did not reach their targets (location lost).”
The enemy attacked Ukrainian energy facilities in Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zaporizhia regions. Unfortunately, as a result of the Russian attack, there were hits,” the statement added.
The British Prime Minister said, “I pay tribute to the resilience of the Ukrainian people, and the leadership of President Zelensky, in the face of further drone and missile attacks from (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s bloody and brutal war machine, with no respite, even at Christmas.”
Sir Keir Starmer added, “As we go into the New Year, it remains vital that we redouble our resolve to place Ukraine in the strongest possible position to end Russia’s illegal aggression against the Ukrainian people.”
