The Polish Foreign Minister has said on Wednesday afternoon that the Russia drone strike on Poland was “planned.”

Radoslaw Sikorski said that Russian “cruise missiles” and other drones have “veered into Polish airspace” on quite a few occasions.

Sikorski told journalists, “Russian drones have veered into Polish airspace before – not just drones but also cruise missiles.

“When one or two drones does it, it is possible it was a technical malfunction. But there were 19 breeches and it simply defies imagination that is was accidental.”

He added the “mass use of drones is a threat to all of Nato,” adding, “we need to create a drone wall.”

The UK and Europe is now at it “closest to open conflict since World War Two,” the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned.

The British Defence Secretary John Healey has said that the UK will now bolster defences from Russian cruise missile attacks.

Healey said that British troops may help to bolster NATO’s air defences in Poland after Russia’s “reckless” attacks.

Healey said the British Armed Forces will “stand firm” and there are already 300 UK forces in Poland.

The British Defence Secretary said on Wednesday afternoon, “Russia’s actions are reckless, they’re dangerous, they’re unprecedented.

“We see what Putin is doing. Yet again he is testing us. Yet again we will stand firm.”

He added: “I’ve asked our UK Armed Forces to look at options to bolster Nato’s air defence over Poland.”

The Russian military said on Wednesday there had been “no plans to target facilities on the territory of Poland.”

Sir Keir Starmer said in a statement, “This morning’s barbaric attack on Ukraine and the egregious and unprecedented violation of Polish and Nato airspace by Russian drones is deeply concerning.

“This was an extremely reckless move by Russia and only serves to remind us of President Putin’s blatant disregard for peace, and the constant bombardment innocent Ukrainians face every day.”
