Sir Keir Starmer is being warned by members from his own party that his position is “terminal” as there is “no political leadership.”

Starmer is under growing pressure from all sides following a line of scandals from sackings and coming under fire from his own Labour MPs as well as opposition figures.

On Saturday evening new revelations came to light over Lord Peter Mandelson’s appointment as the ambassador to the US, the peer was given the post prior to any formal vetting process, Downing Street confirmed.

Labour rebels want the suspended MP Andrew Gwynne to move aside so that Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester can take over his post.

Sunday newspapers have revealed that many MPs are “furious” and The Times was told that ministers are angry over the Lord Mandelson scandal and with the chief of staff Morgan McSweeney.

A senior government minister told the paper, “I think it is pretty terminal, to be honest.

Hushed conversations that are being had among friends are swiftly coming to the overriding conclusion that Keir cannot lead us into the next General Election. The only question left is who we are replacing him with.”

Whitehall source said about McSweeney, “Keir has lost control of his advisers. Heads have to roll.”

Another minister said, “There is no content or agenda, there is no political leadership.

“The PM can’t keep asking someone else to tell him how to lead.”

Labour MP, Clive Lewis has publicly questioned Starmer’s future as Prime Minister warning that he is not “up to the job,” adding there is a “very dangerous atmosphere” among Labour MPs.

Labour MP Barry Gardiner told GB News on Saturday, that MPs are “frustrated and angry” over the government failures over the past few weeks.

Gardiner said, “MPs are really concerned about the missteps that have been made at the top of the party in the past few weeks.”

GB News asked Gardiner if Sir Keir Starmer is aware of the media coverage and the frustrations of what the public are thinking.

He said, “I think Keir Starmer reads the front pages,” and said he believes that Starmer is aware of the negative headlines.

I think he has made a mistake in that he has surrounded himself with people who are telling him what he wants to hear and are perhaps not telling him what he needs to hear,” Gardiner said.

“That’s always a bad move for a leader. A leader needs to surround themselves with people who criticise constructively,” he added.
