Labour MP Ian Byrne has slammed his leadership saying that Sir Keir Starmer gave a “tone deaf response” to the heavy losses that Reform UK and the Lib Dems have gained.

He is calling on the Prime Minister to “change course” after telling Sky News that he will “go even further” to deliver his agenda.

Byrne said, “We must listen to and heed the message voters have delivered and respond to it by changing the lives of working class people for the better.”

He insisted that Labour has to “improve the situation” or they will be “rolling out the red carpet to Reform at the next [general election].”

Byrne is urging Starmer to “truly reflect and change course.”

He added, “If they do not, I genuinely fear the country will face the consequences of a far right government in four years’ time.”

The Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch warned that “Starmer is on track to be a one-term Prime Minister.”

Badenoch also apologised to Tory councillors who lost to Farage and the Lib Dems and said that “protest parties” that are doing well is “disappointing,” however the results shows that Starmer is on track to be a one-term Prime Minister.”

She said, “The election results that we are seeing show he is on course to be a one-term prime minister. But we can’t take things for granted.

“Protest parties are doing well, today. I know that, it is disappointing.”

Badenoch said I am “sincerely sorry” to all of those who have lost their seats during this local election.

She added, “We’re going to make sure that your hard work was not in vain. Other parties may be winning now, but we are going to show… that we can deliver and that we are on course and recovering.”
