The bZ3X is Toyota’s cheapest EV, and it’s already a hot seller. After launching last month, Toyota has now delivered over 10,000 bZ3X electric SUVs in China as orders continue to pile up.

Toyota delivered over 10,000 bZ3X SUVs in China

Toyota officially launched the bZ3X SUV in China last month, starting at just 109,800 yuan, or roughly $15,000. The new EV is Toyota’s “first 100,000 yuan-level pure electric SUV” and most affordable yet.

According to Peng Baolin, General Manager of Sales at GAC-Toyota, the company has already delivered over 10,000 bZ3X models. Baolin added that the electric SUV has 12,000 pending orders as demand continues to build.

Based on the e-TNGA platform, the electric SUV measures 4,645 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width, and 1,625 mm in height, or roughly the same size as BYD’s popular Yuan Plus (sold as the Atto 3 overseas).

The electric SUV is available in two versions, with or without smart driving tech. The base non-smart driving model starts at 109,800 yuan ($15,800) and is available in five trims. Upgrading to the smart driving model will cost you 149,800 yuan ($20,500).

Powered by a 50.03 kWh battery, the entry-level “430 Air” has a CLTC driving range of up to 430 km (267 miles). The range-topping “610 Max” offers a driving range of up to 610 km (379 miles) from a 67.92 kWh battery. It starts at 159,800 yuan ($22,000).

Inside, the bZ3X features a 12.3-inch infotainment screen at the center, along with an 8.8-inch driver display. Toyota claims the interior is designed as “a mobile space that is as comfortable as home,” with nearly 10 feet (3 meters) of space with the front and rear seats folded.

Smart driving features are supported by Momenta’s 5.0 Intelligent Driving System, including Level 2 assisted driving.

After opening orders last month, GAC-Toyota claimed the bZ3X was “so popular that the server crashed” as orders topped 10,000 in under an hour.

Within the next year, Toyota will add several new electric vehicles (EVs) to its lineup in China, including the flagship bZ7 sedan and the new Lexus ES.
