Nicolas Jackson could undergo a Chelsea medical today as he finalises a £30million move from Villarreal and Mauricio Pochettino also wants to step up the chase for Moises Caicedo at Brighton amid more links to Inter’s Lautaro Martinez and Dusan Vlahovic. Tottenham could now face a battle with Arsenal over Harvey Barnes, though Leicester team-mate James Maddison is believed to want to join Spurs as they also target David Raya.
However, Heung-min Son is the latest player to attract big-money interest from Saudi Arabia with an offer in the works. Man United get Osimhen encouragement
Manchester United may have been given some encouragement in a mixed update over Victor Osimhen.
Serie A’s top scorer is known to be among the alternative striker targets for Erik ten Hag, who seems to have admitted defeat in the club’s pursuit of Harry Kane.
Addressing Osimhen’s future again on Monday evening, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis insisted they have an agreement over a contract extension but insisted the player could still be sold for the right offer.
“I have said for a while that Osimhen has to stay. Then, if an offer came in that I could not refuse for the good of Napoli, then we would consider it, as is only natural,” he said, per Football Italia.
“We already talked to Osimhen before the Scudetto celebration, so we already have a basic agreement on a two-year extension of his contract. The other players, that is something we need to study with Rudi [Garcia], because I have for many years been convinced that pre-season training is fundamental.”
Spurs braced for Son offer from Saudi Arabia
Tottenham are braced for Heung-min Son to become the latest subject of an offer from Saudi Arabia.
Clubs in the Gulf state are ramping up their bids for multiple Premier League players this week, with a number of other Chelsea stars set to follow N’Golo Kante out to Saudi, as well as the likes of Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.
Now ESPN report that Al-Ittihad – who have signed both Kante and Ballon d’Or holder Karim Benzema already this summer – are ready to launch a £51m offer for Son, who is said to have been offered a four-year contract worth £25m per season.
Al-Ittihad apparently believe that Son could be tempted into the move, though the report states that Tottenham are absolutely not interested in listening to offers.
Arsenal handed new Kai Havertz boost
Arsenal look to have been handed another boost in their quest to sign Kai Havertz.
The Gunners are known to be extremely interested in raiding Stamford Bridge for the German forward, having already seen an opening bid rebuffed by Chelsea.
Arsenal do not want to meet the Blues’ current £70m valuation for Havertz, though seem hopeful that they can knock down the cost.
According to ESPN, Chelsea are now under pressure to lower their asking price after being told the player has no intention of extending his £220,000 per week contract that expires in 2025.
Arsenal are expected to make another bid for Havertz, with claims that personal terms will not be an issue.
Nicolas Jackson set for Chelsea medical
Nicolas Jackson is reportedly set to undergo a medical at Chelsea this week.
The Blues have stepped up their pursuit of the Villarreal forward, who is said to have an agreement over personal terms.
Reports yesterday said that Chelsea needed to hold further talks with their LaLiga counterparts over the exact structure of the deal, with Jackson possessing a £29.8m release clause in his current contract.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, the Senegal international will travel to London for a medical this week and sign a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge after also attracting interest from the likes of AC Milan and Everton.
Arsenal make Jurrien Timber move
Arsenal are trying to sign Jurrien Timber from Ajax, reports claim.
Mikel Arteta and Edu are seemingly turning attentions to strengthening the Gunners’ defence amid their long-running chase for top midfield target Declan Rice.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal have now submitted an initial £30m bid for Timber, with personal terms already said to be agreed with the versatile Netherlands centre-back.
Ajax are believed to want £50m, but there is apparently optimism that a deal can be struck for the former Manchester United target.
ICYMI: Marcus Rashford closing in on new Manchester United deal
Marcus Rashford is set to extend his Manchester United contract, according to the latest reports.
The two parties have been locked in negotiations for some time now in order to reach an agreement, with Rashford’s current deal due to expire next summer after an automatic one-year extension triggered by United back in December.
Fabrizio Romano now reports that Rashford is on the verge of agreeing a new long-term contract at Old Trafford, with the England forward said to be very happy under Erik ten Hag.
Negotiations are believed to be in the final stages, with only some last details to be sorted before it becomes official.
Great news in a crucial summer for United.
ICYMI: Chelsea ready to seal Nicolas Jackson deal
Chelsea are expected to wrap up the signing of Nicolas Jackson in the days ahead.
The Blues sprung something of a surprise last week when it emerged that they were actively chasing a deal for Villarreal’s young Senegalese forward, who shares an agent with Moises Caicedo.
Chelsea are already said to have agreed personal terms with Jackson, who has scored 13 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions this season during a breakthrough campaign in Spain.
MailOnline now say that they will discuss the structure of a £30m deal with Villarreal this week, with Chelsea hoping to pay that in instalments amid rival interest from Aston Villa.
Chelsea will also reportedly closely study Jackson’s medical after his injury issues that saw him miss two months of LaLiga action between January and March.
ICYMI: Arsenal confident of signing Declan Rice and Kai Havetz
Arsenal are “very confident” of signing both Declan Rice and Kai Havertz this summer.
The Gunners are actively working on new bids for their top summer target and Chelsea’s German forward after seeing opening offers for both rebuffed.
According to Sky Sport in Germany, Arsenal are in advanced talks with both players and are confident of getting both huge deals done in the coming weeks, with no Bayern Munich offer made yet for Havertz.
Exciting times at the Emirates!
ICYMI: Tottenham now leading James Maddison chase
Spurs are now leading the race to sign James Maddison.
Newcastle are battling Tottenham for the England playmaker, who has recently been relegated to the Championship with Leicester.
The Daily Mail report on Maddison preferring a move to north London over Tyneside, quoting sources from inside the England camp where transfer talk has been rife.
Tottenham also want Harvey Barnes but are said to face a longer wait to discover his next destination, with the Leicester winger keen to survey his options over the summer.
ICYMI: Noni Madueke rules out Chelsea exit
Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has revealed that the concept of him leaving on loan this summer is “impossible”.
Having asserted himself in the first-team after a January move to Stamford Bridge, Madueke wants a big role under new boss Mauricio Pochettino
“A loan spell would be impossible for both parties”, he told Standard Sport.
“I’ve been brought in and there’s a plan for me at the club. I finished the season well, so next season is just about kicking on in the team and showing everyone the real me.”
