The summer transfer window is well underway and all of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham are working hard to complete some major early deals. United have now tabled a third and final offer of £55m for Mason Mount, while they have also held talks over signing Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana for £50m.

Chelsea are ready to return with a fresh bid for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo amid a £30m move for Nicolas Jackson at Villarreal, and also have interest in Mohammed Kudus. Arsenal are planning a huge third offer of their own for top target Declan Rice but face strong competition from Manchester City, while Kai Havertz is set to undergo a medical over the weekend and the Gunners have reached an agreement with Romeo Lavia.

Tottenham are set to make their first signing of the Ange Postecoglou era in Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario, with a boost in their chase of James Maddison as Newcastle close in on the signing of Sandro Tonali instead. Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic will undergo his medical at Man City on Friday. Follow all the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip live below!

The Mail report that West Ham are expecting the improved offer, with it believed that the Gunners will come close to matching the Hammers’ valuation.

Newcastle eye Andersen move

Newcastle are interested in Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen.

The Magpies are on the verge of sealing a deal for AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali, and are now turning their focus to defensive additions.

The Mail report that Andersen is one of those being considered, but the centre-back has three years left on his current deal at Selhurst Park and so would not come cheap.

Agent could hold key in Simons race

Arsenal reportedly have a surprise advantage in the race to sign Xavi Simons.

The PSV star is attracting attention across Europe, while PSV have a €6m buyback option that could only be activated in July and if the player agrees.

Voetbal Primeur report that Tottenham and Man United are interested in Simons, but the Gunners are in a strong position due to their relationship with the player’s agent Darren Dein, son of Arsenal’s former director David Dein.

Arsenal look to avoid hammer blow

Arsenal have historically pivoted well after missing out on transfer targets, but losing the race for Declan Rice would be a hammer blow, writes Simon Collings.

Rice is Arsenal’s No1 target this summer and has been so for months leading into this transfer window.

The Gunners are determined to kick on after narrowly missing out on the title and, at 24, Rice is viewed as a big part of the next phase of Mikel Arteta’s project.

Sporting director Edu and the executive team have reacted well to missing out on targets in the past, most recently as January. Arsenal wanted to sign Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk but, when Chelsea gazumped them, they swiftly swooped for Leandro Trossard from Brighton.
